The 22:00 hrs kayaks depart from Lewis for Newfoundland.

  1. What do you figure? About 80 days paddling, give or take, depending on the need to hunt and fish along the way? Odd they would make the attempt at this time of year though... ;-)

  2. Michael, the departure time should have given it away, 2200 hrs and its sunset. This was the hottest day of the year in July. ETA is difficult, our stamina ran out as it got dark and we turned back, guided to a very narrow landing spot by a fire our friends had lit on the shore.

  3. I'm looking at your photos and saying I've got to head over and paddle your neck of the woods soon. And, um, I'll leave crossing the pond to other folks though :>)

  4. Hello Alison, we are extremely lucky with the variety of scenery on the West Coast. It would take more than a lifetime to explore. I only do short crossings myself! But it was fun pretending to head for Newfoundland, for half an hour, as we paddled out onto the empty Atlantic horizon. It slowly turned from dusky pink to deep purple, then we turned back to the south east and paddled into the darkness of the approaching night.
