The bird colonies of Ailsa Craig
The sea bird breeding colonies on Ailsa Craig are amongst the biggest in the World. At this time of year, the scale of life being rejuvenated is simply humbling.
Hello Peter, to describe the air downwind of the rock as pungent would be masterful understatement. On the other hand, in the hot sun, I guess the gannets didn't think we smelt too sweet either!
I would imagine your nose told you about the colony before you were able to see the white-washed rocks...
