White tailed sea eagles, a swim and a can of Guinness

After rounding the Mull of Kintyre and entering the Firth of Clyde we came across a pair of sea eagles soaring with their offspring.

We needed a break and the sight of the sands of Carskey Bay proved most welcome.

We were by now rather hot.

I went for a very quick swim while Tony sensibly cracked open a can of Guinness.

We lazed in the sun while we looked back at the line of cliffs leading to the Mull of Kintyre, home of mists and sea eagles..... days like these.....

  1. hi!!enjoyed ur blog and photos very much!!!although as a local ornitholigist i would say that these birds are golden eagles, the bird with the white tail is probably the juvenile, although it is fantastic that we have these birds on our doorstep-seeing white tailed eagles in kintyre after so many years would be a dream come true!!!!!if you are absolutely sure of your sighting please contact me at jamesmacdonald4sky.com@sky.com whenever it is convenient for you!!all the best and happy kayaking:)
